Land's End

One of the many things that I plan to discuss along the way in this blog is all the places that I will visit along my way so why not start at the start with Lands End. Geographically it is situated as the most south western point in Britain and the most westerly point in England. It is in the county of Cornwall where my journey will begin in the summer of next year with I'm sure much nerves and excitement.

The name itself has struck at people's imagination for thousands of years, with the Romans referring to it as 'Bolerium', the seat of storms, and the old Cornish name 'Penn-an-Wlas', end of the land. It has for many years been a famous tourist destination, as early as the 19th century people would make the journey between here and John O'Groats as it became acknowledged as the longest point to point crossing in Britain.

I will be continuing along this theme in future blog's and discussing in more depth Land's End as well as other places I plan to visit along my way...

Sending out letters tonight for first fund raising event
